Sailing Experience: Sailing since age 12. Boat ownership – 25 years + (current boat, Frers 36 – 5 years).

Racing Experience – 15 years. Campaigned own boat 12 years. Raced boats around the buoys and

distance races. Experience racing on other boats include Frers 33, Olsen 30, Cal 31, J-35, Tartan 10,

J-24, Express 34, Olsen 34, Beneteau 36.7, Newport 30.

More than 50 nights racing overnight (more than 30 nights cruising via deliveries and other trips).

Captained 9 Chicago – Mackinac races on own boat.

Experienced racing at all positions. Proficient at helm, foresail trim, mainsail trim, guy trim, pit, and

navigator. Competent at mast. Understand importance of each crew member focusing on their assigned

tasks to achieve successful race outcomes.

Courses/Training:

  • US Sailing – World Sailing Offshore Personal Survivor Training (2 days with in water training)
  • J/World Advanced Yacht Racing course
  • Starpath School of Navigation – Marine Weather Course (USCG Captain’s license equivalent)
  • Navigation & Weather in the 21st Century – Instructed in use of resources, services, and
  • hardware available for weather forecasting and routing, e.g., Expedition, Predict Wind, Go Free.
  • Taught by Chris Bedford (Sailing Weather Service) and Anderson Reggio (Team Alvimedica).
  • US Coast Guard – Coastal Navigation
  • Certified diver (P.A.D.I. advanced certification)
  • CPR (Red Cross)

Skills:

  • Splicing – Accomplished in splicing high modulus rope, including single and double braid and
  • hybrid varieties.
  • Mechanical/Structural – Regularly perform routine maintenance and repairs to diesel engines,
  • steering and hydraulic systems, winches, pumps, etc. Also can install and rebed hardware.
  • Electrical/Electronics – Installation and troubleshooting of DC circuits and components.
  • Experienced in configuration and setup of NMEA 2K networks.
  • Sail Repair – Trained in on-the-water repair of minor to moderate damage to sails. Repairs
  • stabilize damage for professional repair or allow racing to continue.

Other Information:

Two US Navy Tiger Cruises – Hawaii to San Diego aboard USS Ogden (LPD-5) and Peleliu (LHA-5)

with Pacific Battle Group. Mustered with Damage Control and Hull Maintenance crew members and

participated in their daily tasks, including ballasting operations and firefighting drills .

Three summers working on 40′ biological research vessel (New York, Connecticut). In addition to

scientific responsibilities, performed boat operation and routine vessel maintenance.
