The Welcoming Committee has been bouncing from boat to boat as more finishers roll in. We are now up to 16 finishers as a great 10kt breeze has filled in off of Baja California Sur, allowing boats to make up some time.
Spirits were high on shore last night as Marisol, Brown Eyed Girl, & Chubasco debriefed on their extremely close race. “It was a slinky race the whole way” said Gio Morrelli of Marisol, citing that they had passed & been passed by Chubasco at least 3 different times.
Zero Gravity finished their maiden race in high spirits early this morning before Fast Exit who currently has the fastest corrected time, Horizon, Timeshaver, & Lucky Duck. Then Aloha & Brigadoon finished earlier today after fighting their way through a tricky convergence zone. Followed by Hana Ho, Vela, & Onde Amo. Crew from Vela reported they had to do “some weird things out there” to get to the finish.
As I am writing this, Blueflash is pulling into the harbor after their finish after 5:1:55:13. Congratulations everyone! R/C is standing by as the last few boats are scheduled to come in tonight & early tomorrow morning.
