Safety Requirements
Offshore sailing is a very enjoyable and competitive recreation. However, sailing has its inherent risks and challenges. NHYC is committed to providing our race participants with a safe and fun trip down the Baja Coast. For your information, below are the links to various reference documents.
SER Update
US 2021.0 SER Section 4.3.1 Ocean
At least 30% of those aboard the boat, but not fewer than two members of the crew, unless racing single-handed, including the person in charge, shall have a valid Offshore or International Offshore Certificate from US Sailing, or the equivalent from another national authority.
If you need an Offshore SAS certificate, this change makes clear that an online course will satisfy the revised 2021.0 SER. US SAS Offshore online courses can be accessed directly at: Safety at Sea Offshore | US Sailing. Please contact us immediately with any questions or concerns about this recent clarification by US Sailing’s SAS Offshore Office or our Cabo Race NOR Amendment No 4.
